Objectives: The product structure is identified by analyzing the spectrum data obtained using organic spectroscopy(NMR, FT-IR, MS) of the biaryl compound synthesized through Suzuki-Miyarua cross-coupling rxn(based on the measured m.p). Learn how to make NMR samples, usage of NMR and analyze spectrum. Learn to analyze FT-IR and MS spectrums.
Principles & Methods : This exp is to analyze the spectrum using spectroscopy to determine the structure of the product synthesized in exp8.
There are mainly four methods used to determine the structure of organic compounds. Mass spectrometry(MS), infrared spectroscopy(IR), ultraviolet spectroscopy(UV), and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(NMR).
