Title: Temperature dependence of chemical reaction
Objective: To examine a reaction rate according to a change of temperature in reaction
Theoretical Backgrounds
2-1) Beer’s Law (Beer-Lambert Law)
Absorbance can be determined by A=log(I0/I) (A= absorbance, I0= intensity of light incident on an object, and I= intensity of light transmitted through the object). When Beer-Lambert Law can be applied, absorbance is expressed as A= ∈∙c∙d (Where ∈ = molecular absorption coefficient, c=molar concentration, and d=thickness of the absorption layer). 1
2-2) Order of Reaction & Rate Constant
In the chemical reaction A + B → C + D, the reaction rate refers to the rate at which the concentrations of reactants A and B decrease. It depends on the concentration of the reactant. Chemical reactions can be classified into several categories depending on the order of reaction. 2 This is expressed in a formula as follows.
