본문내용
South Africa was a mixed-agricultural society and mainly believed in ancestral gods in a chief-centered society that used the Bantu language. However, after becoming a Western colony in 1652, individualization and urbanization began. And with the advent of evangelical Christianity in the 19th century, Western education was introduced and converts to Christianity became elite. Due to the emergence of cities, racial diversity, weak family structure, and lack of adult culture, cultural transmission between generations had not been effective. Efforts were made to preserve indigenous culture, but the forced migration policy of apartheid accelerated from the 1950s, and exchanges between rural and urban youths increased in the 1980s. During the colonization process, indigenous cultures such as bridewealth and beliefs survived. However, South Africa did not reject American and Western culture and was open to cultural globalization.
