본문내용
South Korea’s development is often cited as the miracle on the Han-river because the country achieved dramatic structural transformation from an agrarian-based to an information-based economy almost the past three decades after Korean War. In fact, South Korea was one of the world's poorest countries with only $64 per capita income, and in the 1960’s it got left behind the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). But now the country, with some 50 million population and per capita income of nearly $30,000, is the world’s twelfth largest trading nation, and the government-led economy resulted in eradication of absolute poverty. Moreover, South Korea has the 11th-highest life expectancy in the world and the second-least obese rate in the OECD. How was this possible?
Korea was once poor, but the development policy of public health has greatly improved the health of all generations, including women, children, infants and the elderly.
