Science and history both operate under the assumption that objectivity is a necessary component of any investigation, and that the results and data should be public as they are the most reliable explanations among other because they are based on facts. Both have similar rules and procedures for the constitution of evidence and the relative importance of different kinds of evidence. For example, in the physics class, our physics teacher always defines a new formula whenever he teaches by showing the proof or evidence of how the formula was derived as evidence is always crucial in scientific explanation. On the other hand, our history teacher always uses history text books or pictures for explaining historical events. This shows how important evidence is for historical explanations also. Both use the evidence available for further discussion and debate.
Furthermore, one question is always controversial about whether the form of explanation in history is typically the same as that of the natural sciences.
