Pre-Investment Survey of the Cagayan River Basin has yet to complete and so planned to be properly investigated in detail after actual starting the dredging work and the investigation method and its content will be described in Chapter 7. As noted in 3.0 Location of Dredging, Dredging plan may be summarized as follows.
For the underwater topographical exploration in detail, it should have prior approval from authorities. But, we took soundings along the Cagayan River from Feb. 27th to Mar.1st and by use of fundamental exploration data, our exploration team comes up with the results that the dredging shall be started in Area ③. The water is shallow in Area ③, which shall be dredged to help prevent floods in rainy season. But, it is less effective and only a temporary solution. The extensive dredging throughout the river and environmental restoration shall be long term solution. The water in Area ② and ④ is shallow, where the dredging required too. But we should look to the fact that Area ② is close to the city and there is a bottleneck in Area ④, so be extra careful to the dredging in rainy season.
