for various purposes of creating and interpreting meaning (including messages)

2. Ways(teaching strategies) for fostering fluency for ELLs(?English language learners)
① Authentic reading materials: Build fluency, background knowledge, and academic language by using culturally sensitive reading that relate to ELLs’ own backgrounds and personal experiences to increase interest and motivation and to keep on reading.
② Help Ss read extensively in a wide range of genres, both fiction and nonfiction.
③ Make reading and writing independently a regular(consistent) part of class to reinforce the importance.
④ Scaffold ELLs’ independent reading/writing so that it does not become tedious. (take a few time to say → ELLs enjoyed)
- Use techniques like LEA(Language Experience Approach) to make connections between oral language and written text.
