The Mexican-American War broke out in 1846.The United States declared the war first against Mexico. This was not because something severe happens between two nations and was only for the President who was James Polk and the high-ranking officials’ selfish desire. So, that’s why general people suffered from it for two years. It was caused by the rupture of negotiations between Mexico and the United States about the annexation of Texas. After the United States won the war against Mexico, James Polk achieved his goal of territorial expansion.
Follow history books deal with the Mexican War;chapter eight in HowardZinn’s book, pages from 372 to 388 in Paul Johnson, and chapter fourteen in George Tindall and David Shi’s book.
These books have different aspects about the war. So, The Mexican War focuses were who James Polk and high-ranking officials at that time were, and what it impacted on general people after the war.
