초록

이 논문은 2017년에 개봉하여 상업적 성공을 거둔 영화 ≪청년경찰≫과≪범죄도시≫가 조선족과 조선족 사회를 어떻게 부정적으로 묘사하고 재현하고 있는지를 살펴보고, 한국영화가 어떻게 혐오와 공포의 재현을 넘어공감과 연대의 재현으로 나아갈 수 있을지를 살펴보려는 목적으로 작성되었다.
2010년에 개봉한 영화 ≪황해≫는 조선족을 부정적인 집단으로 그리는데 결정적인 역할을 했다. 이어 2012년에 개봉한 영화 ≪신세계≫ 역시 ‘조선족 거지’를 등장시켜 조선족을 부정적인 집단으로 묘사하는 데 일조했다.
이후 한국영화는 ‘조선족 액션 느와르’라는 장르를 따로 설정해도 좋을 정도로 조선족을 잔인하고 끔직한 범죄 집단으로 그리는 데 몰두했다.
영화 ≪청년경찰≫은 “편견의 완성판”이라 할 수 있다. 이 영화는 조선족밀집 거주지역인 ‘대림동’을 문화적 다양성을 발견할 수 있는 가능성의 공간이 아닌 혐오와 공포를 생산하는 불모성의 공간으로 묘사하고 재현했다.
이 영화를 만든 김주환 감독은 “편견이라기보다는 영화적 장치”라는 말로논란을 피해가려 했지만, 오히려 “영화적 장치라기보다는 편견”이라는 말이더 실상에 가깝다. 따라서 영화 ≪청년경찰≫이 관객들의 무의식적 혐오와공포를 이용해 이데올로기적 조선족포비아를 조장했고 평가할 수 있다.
영화 ≪범죄도시≫는 더 강한 악당(타인에 대한 부정적 감정과 망상의 강화) 과 그에 맞서는 더 강한 영웅(자신에 대한 긍정적 감정과 망상의 강화)의 대결구도를 극대화한 영화이다. 이 영화를 만든 강윤성 감독은 “'범죄도시'는 주민들이 강력반 형사와 함께 나쁜 놈을 잡는 이야기라 중국 동포 여러분들이불편해하진 않을 것 같다”고 말했지만, 게토처럼 묘사된 조선족 거주 공간의 불결함과 황폐함, 사소한 다툼에도 칼을 뽑아드는 조선족들의 야만성과폭력성 등이 이러한 해명을 무색케 한다. 또한 주인공 마석도(마동석)가 ‘만화적 캐릭터’로 설정한 순간부터 ‘사회적 의미 탐구’를 포기하고 ‘영화적 재미 추구’에 집착한 것도 이 영화의 한계를 분명히 보여준다.
이처럼 조선족을 소재로 한 한국영화들은 아무런 의심 없이 조선족에 대한혐오와 공포를 확대 재생산하고 있다. 영화 ≪청년경찰≫과 ≪범죄도시≫은이러한 조선족에 대한 혐오와 공포가 ‘영화산업’으로 정착할 수 있다는 우려를 자아낼 정도로 파장이 컸다. 한 번 형성된 조선족에 대한 부정적 관념과판단은 쉽게 바뀌지 않는다는 점에서, 영화 ≪청년경찰≫과 ≪범죄도시≫에대한 반성과 성찰은 지금 이 시점에서 꼭 필요한 작업이라 할 수 있다.
이러한 잘못된 관행에서 벗어나기 위해서는 질문의 방향을 조선족이 아닌 우리 자신에게 돌려야 한다. 다시 말해, ‘동포’와 ‘짱깨’라는 한국사회의조선족에 대한 한국사회의 이중성을 근원적으로 반성하고 성찰할 때, 비로소 한국영화가 조선족을 혐오와 공포의 대상이 아닌 공감과 연대의 대상으로 묘사하고 재현할 수 있기 때문이다.

영어초록

This paper examines how the films "Youth Police" and "The Outlaws", which were opened in 2017 to commercial success, negatively portray and reproduce the Korean and Chinese communities, and show how Korean movies are beyond the reproduction of aversion and horror And to see if they can move forward with the reappearance of sympathy and solidarity.
The movie ‘Yellow Sea’, which was released in 2010, played a crucial role in drawing the Korean-Chinese into negative groups. The movie ‘Shinsegae’, which was released in 2012, also helped to portray the Korean-Chinese group as a negative group by introducing the Korean ethnic group. Since then, Korean film has concentrated on drawing the Korean-Chinese into a brutal and horrible crime group so that it can set the genre of ‘Korean-Chinese action noir’ separately.
The film ‘Youth Police’ can be said to be a “complete edition of prejudice.” The film portrays and reproduces ‘Daelim-dong’, a residential area of Korean-Chinese dynasty, as a space of inferiority and fear, not a space of possibility of discovering cultural diversity. The director of the film Kim Joo-hwan tried to avoid the controversy by saying, “Cinematic device rather than prejudice,” but rather “prejudiced rather than cinematic.” Therefore, the film ‘Youth Police’ can encourage and evaluate ideological Chaophobia using the unconscious aversion and fear of the audience.
The movie ‘The Outlaws’ maximizes the confrontation between stronger villains (strengthening negative emotions and delusions against others) and stronger heroes (reinforcing positive emotions and delusions for oneself). Kang Yoon-sung, director of the film, said, “The Outlaws is a story about people catching a bad guy with a homicide detective. I do not think you will feel uncomfortable with Korean-Chinese compatriots.” The brutality and violence of the Korean-Chinese, who draw swords to the filth and desolation of the Korean-Chinese living space described as a ghetto, and to the small strife, disillusion this explanation. In addition, the fact that the main character, Ma Seok-do(Ma Dong-seok), has set as a ‘cartoon character’ has abandoned the quest for social meaning and obsessed with ‘pursuit of cinematic fun’.
Thus, Korean films based on the Korean-Chinese do not doubt and reproduce the dislike and fear of the Korean people. The films ‘Youth Police’ and ‘The Outlaws’ were so wide that they expressed concern that the abhorrence and fear of these Korean-Chinese could be settled as ‘movie industry’. Reflections and reflection on the film ‘Youth Police’ and ‘The Outlaws’ are essential tasks at this point in the sense that negative thoughts and judgments about the once formed Korean-Chinese do not change easily.
In order to escape from this erroneous practice, the direction of the question should be directed to ourselves, not to the Korean-Chinese.
