초록

본 연구의 목적은 붕괴된 한국의 공교육 시스템에서 기독교적 인성교육 이 어떻게 기여할 수 있는지 그 방안을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하 여 정교분리로 종교교육이 금지된 공립학교보다는 종립학교를 중심으로 근 대 공교육과 기독교사립학교의 역사를 살펴보고 이를 통해 현재 기독교사학 이 직면한 기독교적 인성교육의 새로운 대안을 찾으려 한다. 19세기 한국의 근대 공교육은 기독교의 적극적 참여로 이루어졌다. 하지만, 일제의 신사참 배 강요, 남북 분단, 사립학교법 제정, 고교 평준화 정책, 대광고 강의석 군 관련 소송, 학생인권 조례 등의 역사를 거치며 기독교적 인성교육이 설 자리는 점점 좁아져 왔다. 현재는 기독교 학교에서조차도 신앙교육이 어려 운 상황이다. 특히, 한국 기독교계 학교들은 공공성과 자주성 중 공공성을 더 강요받고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이에 대하여 학교 재단들은 자율형 사립고 로 의 전환을 통하여 기독교 가치관을 지키려 하는 움직임을 보이고 있으며, 학부모들은 공교육 밖의 기독교 미인가 대안학교(사립학교)등에서 그 대안 을 찾고 있다. 이러한 현실 속에서 이 연구는 공교육의 의미를 살펴보고 사립학교에서의 공공성과 자주성의 조화에 대하여 고민해보려 한다. 또한 한국만의 공교육 시스템 속에서 기독교사학이 직면한 상황을 이해하고 서로의 갈등 요소를 살펴볼 것이다. 그리고 이에 근거하여 한국의 공교육 속에서 기독교 학교는 물론 일반 사립학교와 공립학교는 물론 교육 전반에서 기독 교적 인성교육을 적용할 방법과 대안들을 통하여 기독교 사학이 나가야할 기독교적 인성교육의 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

영어초록

This study is actively to seek measures how the Christian character edu- cation contributes to the Korean public education system. On this study, the study will find new alternatives by looking over modern public education and the history of Christian private school. The Christians took an active part in Korean public education in 19th century but the Christian character educa- tion is tapering off because of shrine worship which was forced by Japan, the division of Korea into north and south, enactment of the private school law, the policy on the equalization of high schools, the lawsuit related with Mr. Gang Uiseok who was a student of Dae Gwang high school and student rights ordinance. It is hard to carry out religious education even at mission schools these days. In addition, the Christian schools are forced to consider public interest as being more important than autonomy. The mission schools have tried to defend Christian values by turning the school into the in- dependent private high school. School parents look for alternatives in un- authorized alternative schools(private schools) which are outside the public education for religious beliefs. Under such reality, the meaning of public ed- ucation and the harmony of public interests and practicality will be stated on this paper. It will be mentioned in this study that the situation the mission schools face in Korean public education system and a cause of conflict in- duced among them. This study wants to find a way to solve this problem. On this basis, it seeks which direction Christian schools should go. It will be stated that effective alternative method and how the character education can apply to all the mission schools, general private school and public school in Korean public education system.
