예비교사의 공적개발원조와 개발교육에 대한 인식연구 (An Investigation of Pre-Service Teachers' Perception of Official Development Aid and Development Education)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 ODA의 인식 제고와 함께 초·중등학생의 개발교육을 담당할 예비교사들의 ODA와 개발교육에 대한 인식의 정도와 경향을 파악하여 교사교육기관에는 개발교육을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하고, 개발교육 활성화를 위한 시사점을 얻는데 있다. 연구결과 첫째, ODA에 대한 인식과 관련하여 예비교사들은 전반적으로 국제개발협력 및 대외원조의 필요성에 찬성하며, 그 이유로서 세계 시민으로서 도의적·인도적 책임감, 과거의 원조 혜택 등을 꼽고 있지만 ODA 관련 지식수준이 낮고 필요성의 인식에 비해 상대적으로 ODA 규모 확대에 대한 찬성도는 낮은 편이다. 둘째, 개발교육에 대한 인식과 관련하여 예비교사들은 개발교육의 각 주제 영역별 교육의 필요성에 대한 인식은 높지만 그에 관한 지식이 부족하고 개발교육 관련 주제로 교육 진행을 할 수 있다고 생각하는 인식은 낮으며 교양과목으로 개발교육이 제공되기를 원하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 개발교육에 대한 교수효능감이 낮으며 관련 자료의 보급과 예비교사교육에 대한 요구가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 우리나라의 ODA 인식 제고 및 개발교육을 활성화를 위해서는 먼저 예비교사들의 국제개발협력에 대한 인식 향상을 위한 노력이 필요하며 교사 양성에 개발교육 요소를 반영할 필요가 있다는 것을 실증적으로 확인할 수 있었다.

영어초록

The purpose of this research was to investigate pre-service teachers' perception on ODA(Official Development Aid) and their understanding of development education. A survey method was used to achieve the research objectives for 342 pre-service teachers in Pusan. The results of this study were as follows. First, while the pre-service teachers recognize that overall international cooperation and ODA is necessary, they lacked specific knowledge, materials and methods. Also pre-service teachers did not strongly agree to the expansion of ODA money, although they strongly agreed to the necessity of ODA. Second, pre-service teachers recognized that the 8 content areas of development education were all necessary and important for them, but they showed low level of teaching efficacy because of their lack of specific knowledge and experiences. Third, there is a great demand for the training provided by the development education program to pre-service teachers. Finally, the results of this study implies that one of the important roles of teachers college or university in the 21C is to create development education programs that reflect the diverse area of contents and methodologies, and to provide them for the pre-service teachers.
