초록

본 연구는 추모 박물관에서 전시되는 이미지에 관해 새로운 시각으로 고찰한다. 과거에 발생한 사건을 전시를 통해 현재의 방문객에게 전달하는 공간인 박물관에서 이미지는 중요한 역할을 차지한다. 그러나 기존의 연구는 과거를 재현하는 이미지 자체에 관한 관심이 상대적으로 부족하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 이미지에 관해 비판적으로 분석한 쟝 보드리야르(Jean Baudrillard)의 시각으로 이미지가 실제를 모방하는 현상이 박물관에 어떠한 의미를 시사하는지에 관해 탐색한다. 구체적으로, 본 논문은 이미지의 “악마적인 유혹”에 관해 탐구함으로써 박물관이 “완전 범죄”의 공간으로 전락하지 않는 새로운 방식으로 이미지를 전시하는 미국의 유산 박물관(Legacy museum)의 사례를 통해 박물관과 이미지의 관계에 대한 대안적인 관점을 제시한다.

영어초록

This study examines museums and images. Images play an important role in museums, which are spaces that convey events that occurred in the past to present visitors through exhibitions. However, existing research has paid relatively little attention to the images themselves that represent the past. Therefore, this study explores the phenomenon of images imitating reality from the perspective of Jean Baudrillard, who critically analyzed images. Specifically, this paper explores the “diabolical seduction of images” through the example of the Legacy Museum in the United States, which displays images in new ways that prevent museums from turning into spaces of “perfect crime”, hence suggesting an alternative perspective on the relationship between images.
