웹소설, 댓글, 그리고 독서 - 스토리스케이핑과 변화된 ‘읽기’의 감각 (Web Novels, Comments, and Reading - Storyscaping and the Changing Sense of ‘Reading’)

초록

디지털미디어의 등장은 책이 가진 물질성을 근본적으로 변화하게 만들었다. 이미 e-book을 통해 종이라는 물질성은 스크린으로 대체되었고, 오디오북까지 나온 지금 에 와서는 물질성뿐만 아니라 ‘읽기’라는 근본적인 행위조차도 변화되고 있는 것이 다. 이렇게 변화하는 책의 물질성에 맞추어 독서에 대한 논의 역시 변화되어야만 한 다. 무엇보다 오늘의 우리는 미디어 간의 소통이 실시간으로 일어나는 트랜스미디어 의 시대를 살아가고 있지 않은가? 본고는 웹 플랫폼에서 축적되는 댓글을 중심으로 달라진 독서의 풍경을 살펴보고 자 한다. 그 중심에는 바로 독자가 있다. 댓글을 쓰고, 댓글로 소통하는 웹 플랫폼 안에서 독자는 웹 콘텐츠에 대한 단순한 소비자나 수용자가 아닌 그 창조적 과정에 직접적으로 개입하는 또 다른 주체가 되고 있기 때문이다. 더 나아가 이러한 댓글이 만들어내는 새로운 독서의 의미를 스토리스케이핑 개념으로서 파악하고자 한다. 이미 웹 플랫폼과 웹 콘텐츠는 시장을 넘어 그 자체로 하나의 문화로 인정받고 있다. 하지만 이러한 시장을 성장시켜온 토대로서 댓글이 가진 가치는 제대로 인정받 지 못하고 있다. 이러한 댓글의 가치를 새롭게 조망하는 것은, 결국 웹 플랫폼이 지 향하는 웹 3.0 시대를 이끌 독자를 탐구하는 것이라는 점에서 유의미하다.

영어초록

The advent of digital media has fundamentally changed the materiality of books. The materiality of paper has already been replaced by screens through e-books, and now that audiobooks have been released, not only materiality but also the fundamental behavior of “reading” is changing. The discussion of reading must also be changed in line with the changing materiality of the book. Above all, aren't we living in the era of transmedia where communication between media takes place in real time? This paper aims to examine the changed landscape of reading, focusing on the comments accumulated on the web platform. At the heart of it is the reader. This is because in the web platform where comments are written and communicated by comments, readers are not just consumers or audiences for web content, but are becoming another subject directly in- tervening in the creative process. Furthermore, I would like to grasp the concept of reading created by these comments as a storyscaping concept.
Already, web platforms are recognized as a culture in themselves beyond the market. However, the value of comments as the basis for growing this market is not properly recognized. It is meaningful in that a new view of the value of these comments is to explore the reader who will eventually lead the Web 3.0 era that the web platform aims for.
