高麗史와 高麗史節要 기록에 나타난 씨름의 특성 (Characteristics of Ssireum in records of 『Goryeosa(高麗史)』 and 『Goryeosajeolyo(高麗史節要)』)

초록

본 연구는 『고려사』와 『고려사절요』 기록에 나타난 씨름의 특성을 규명하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 자료수집을 위해 국사편찬위원회의 한국사 데이터베이스를 이용하였다. 검색키워드는 ‘씨름’, ‘角力(각력)’, ‘角觝’(각저) , ‘角抵’(각저) 등으로 하였으며, 원문은 국사편찬위원회의 해석된 자료를 활용하였다. 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 『고려사』와 『고려사절요』에는 총 7개의 씨름기록이 있으며, 직접 씨름을 즐긴 임금은 충혜왕이고『고려사』의 씨름기록 3개는 『고려사절요』의 씨름기록 3개와 같은 내용이었다. 둘째, 『고려사』와 『고려사절요』 기록에 나타난 씨름 중 충혜왕이 직접 씨름을 즐긴 지역은 원나라 연경(燕京)이며 관람한 지역은 개경(開京)이었고, 충혜왕이 씨름을 즐긴 대상은 내수(內豎)였다. 셋째, 『고려사』와 『고려사절요』 기록에 나타난 씨름 용어로는 각력희(角 力戲) 2개, 각저희(角觝戲) 3개, 각저희(角抵戲) 2개로 확인되었으며, 『고려사』와 『고려사절요』에서 각력희(角力戲)는 동일하게 기록하였으나, 『고려사』에서는 각저희(角觝戲), 『고려사절요』에서는 각저희(角抵戲)로 기록하였다. 넷째, 『고려사』와 『고려사절요』 기록에 나타난 특이 사항으로 ‘충혜왕은 정사에 무관심’, ‘씨름을 관람하며 술 마시기’, ‘공주를 위로하고자 밤에 씨름 관람’, ‘고용보가 요청하자 시내 누각에서 씨름 관람’, ‘용사에게 베를 하사’ 하는 등의 모습이 기록되었다. 본 연구는 『고려사』와 『고려사절요』에 기록에 나타난 씨름의 특성을 통해 충혜왕이 씨름을 직접 참여하거나 관람한 형태를 확인하였으며, 씨름 명칭에 관한 중요한 단서를 알 수 있었다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of ssireum in records of 『Goryeosa(高麗史)』 and 『Goryeosajeolyo(高麗史節要)』. Through this study, it was intended to be used as basic data to present the name of ssireum and the characteristics of ssireum in the Goryeo Dynasty. This study used the Korean history database search system of the National Institute of Korean History to collect data, and search keywords were 'ssireum(씨름)', 'Gakryeok(角力)’ ‘Gakjeo(角觝)’, and 'Gakjeo(角抵)'. And the interpretation of the original text from records used the interpreted data of the National Institute of Korean History. The conclusion is as follows. First, there are a total of seven ssireum records in 『Goryeosa』 and 『Goryeosajeolyo』, the king who personally enjoyed and experienced ssireum was King Chunghye, and the three ssireum records in 『Goryeosa』 were the same as the three ssireum records in 『Goryeosajeolyo』. Second, among the ssireum shown in the records of Goryeosa and 『Goryeosajeolyo』, the area where King Chunghye personally enjoyed and experienced ssireum was ‘Yeongyeong(燕京)’ of the Yuan dynasty, the area where he watched ssireum was ‘Gaegyeong(開京)’ of Goryeo dynasty, and the opponent that King Chunghye enjoyed ssireum was Nae-su(內豎). Third, the names of ssireum in the records of 『Goryeosa』 and 『Goryeosajeolyo』 were identified as two ‘Gakryeokhui(角力戲)’, three ‘Gakjeohui(角觝戲)’, two ‘Gakjeohui(角抵戲)’, and in 『Goryeosa』 and 『Goryeosajeolyo』, ‘Gakryeokhui(角力戲)’ was recorded in the same way, but in 『Goryeosa』, it was recorded as ‘Gakjeohui(角觝戲)’, and in 『Goryeosajeolyo』, it was recorded as ‘Gakjeohui(角抵戲)’. Fourth, as peculiarities in the records of 『Goryeosa』 and 『Goryeosajeolyo』, the appearance of 'King Chunghye is indifferent to political affairs', ‘participanting and watching ssireum of King Chunghye’, 'alcoholic drinking while watching ssireum competition', 'watching ssireum at night to comfort the princess', 'watching ssireum at the pavilion when requested by the Goyongbo', ‘and 'giving a cloth to the ssireum player’ were recorded. In this study, the characteristics of ssireum in the records of 『Goryeosa』 and 『Goryeosajeolyo』 confirmed the form in which King Chunghye personally participated or watched ssireum, and important clues about the name of ssireum were found.
