조선 본점회사 납입자본금의 지역별자본계열별 구성- 경기지역을 중심으로 - (The composition of the paid-in capital of the Colonial Korean headquarters company by capital affiliate and region - Focusing on the Gyeonggi area -)

초록

본 논문은 『연간조선』과 『조선은행회사조합요록』의 정보를 통합하여 1921년부터 1942년까지 조선 본점회사의 자본계열별 지역별 회사 데이터를 구축하고, 자본계열별 지역별 회사 데이터를 이용하여, 조선 본점회사 납입자본금의 자본계열별 지역별 구성을 분석하였다. 자본계열은 내지계 자본계열, 조선계 국책성 자본계열, 조선계 영리성 자본계열, 비계열 조선 본점회사 4가지로 분류했다. 분석 결과, 자본계열별로 조선 본점회사의 납입자본금의 지역별 구성은 상당히 달랐으며, 그 구성도 시기에 따라 변하고 있었음이 명백하게 되었다. 변이-할당 분석을 사용하여, 각 지역에 본점을 둔 회사의 납입자본금의 성장률 차이가 자본계열별 회사 구성비의 차이에서 오는 것인지, 각 자본계열에서 각 지역이 차지하는 비중의 변화에서 오는지도 분석하였다. 통상적인 변이-할당 분석은 경쟁효과와 전문화효과를 구분하지 못하기 때문에, 본 논문에서는 Esteban-Marquillas 변이-할당 분석을 사용하였다. 자본계열별로 지역적 경쟁효과가 양인 지역이 서로 달랐을 뿐만 아니라, 내지계 자본계열, 조선계 국책성 자본계열, 조선계 영리성 자본계열은 지역적 특화가 강화 또는 유지되고 있었으며, 비계열 조선 본점회사는 지역적 분산이 진전되고 있었다. 자본계열별로 경쟁력이 강화되는 지역이 달랐고, 또 특화의 여부가 달랐기 때문에, 지역별 회사 자본의 성장을 고찰할 때에는 자본계열별 성장 추세가 그것에 미친 영향에 주목하지 않으면 안된다. 또한 경기도 내 도시 즉 경성, 인천, 개성의 본점회사 납입자본금의 성장률의 차이에 자본계열별 구성이 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지도 분석하였다. 자본계열별 지역별 회사 데이터는 회사 발전의 지역적 구조를 해명하는 데 크게 기여할 것으로 생각된다.

영어초록

This paper integrates the information on the composition of Colonial Korea’s industrial capital by capital affiliate in early 1942 recoded in Annual Joseon published by Toyo Keizai Inc. with the information of Joseon Eunhaeng Hoesa Johap Yorok(Biennial Reviews on Colonial Korea’s bank, corporation and cooperative associations). Capital affiliates were classified into four categories: capital affiliates based in Japanese mainland, state capital affiliates based in Colonial Korea, private capital affiliates based in Colonial Korea, and non-affiliated Colonial Korean headquarters companies. This paper analyzes the trend of the composition of the paid-in capital of the Colonial Korean headquarters company by capital affiliate and region, using the newly compiled data in this paper. This paper also analyzes the effect of the composition of capital affiliate on the difference in the growth rate of the paid-in capital of headquarters companies in Gyeongseong, Incheon, and Gaeseong, which are located in Gyeonggi-do. Since traditional shift-share analysis cannot distinguish between competition effects and specialization effects, this paper uses Esteban-Marquillas shift-share analysis that can distinguish between the two. Regional specialization was being strengthened or maintained for capital affiliates based in Japanese mainland, state capital affiliates based in Colonial Korea, and private capital affiliates based in Colonial Korea, while regional dispersion of non-affiliated Colonial Korean headquarters companies was progressing. When examining changes in the regional distribution of companies, we must pay attention to the impact of different growth trends in capital affiliates. This paper will stimulate research to analyze the effect of changes in the composition of paid-in capital by capital affiliate on the development of companies in each region.
