『占察善惡業報經』에 드러난 현대 불교상담 활용방안 (Application of Buddhist Counseling Method revealed in the 『Jeomchal Sutra』)

초록

본 논문은 최근 현대 사회에 일어나는 정신적 갈등을 『占察善惡業報經』 (이하 『점찰경』)에 적용하여 사회·문화적 갈등의 해결점을 불교상담 활용방안에 적절한지를 고찰하였다. 근래에 이르러 『점찰경』이 현대 사회에 불교상담 활용방안으로 현저하게 傳來되지 않았다. 예측이 어려운 환경의 변화에서도 현대 사회에서는 『점찰경』에 국한되지 않고 다양한 도구인 타로·사주·관상·손금 등으로 문화적 갈등을 해결하여왔다. 한편 역사적으로 삼국유사에서는 『점찰경』이 사회·문화적 측면에서는 민간신앙의 기복과 행복을 염원하였고, 경전적인 측면에서는 사상, 종교, 음양오행 등 내세에 대한 믿음이 큰 비중을 다루었던 것으로 나타난다. 특히 내면적인 면에서는 불교적이며 설화적 개념과 역사서, 불교문화서 등의 견해도 암시하고 있다.
최근에 와서 불교상담에서는 다양한 수단의 기법을 활용하는 빈도는 많이 늘어나는 실정이다. 하지만 이러한 기법이 ‘상담 연속성의 공존’이라고 볼 때, 상담에 대한 ‘상담기법의 절대 필요성’이라고 볼 여지는 있는지? 그래서 불교상담이 서양 심리·상담학과 같이 차별되었던 것으로 본다면, 그야말로 불교상담은 새로운 상담의 지평을 시사하는 점이라 할 수 있다.
따라서 불교상담은 ‘있는 그대로 관찰하고, 들어주고, 확인하고, 경전을 이해하는데 유익한 과정’이다. 즉 스스로 ‘알아차리고, 느끼고, 깨우치도록 하는 것이 불교상담의 소산’이라 할 수 있다. 이와 같이 『점찰경』이 현대 사회에 사회·문화적 갈등을 해결하는데 새로운 불교상담의 차별화된 활용방안이 될 것이다.

영어초록

This study substituted internal conflicts occurring in modern society for 『Jeomchal Sutra』 (hereinafter referred to as 『Sutra of Divination』) and considered if the solution for social․cultural conflicts can be applied to Buddhist counseling.
『Sutra of Divination』 has not been passed down widely as a Buddhist counseling in modern society. In the The Heritage of the Three States and especially from the social ․cultural perspectives, however, 『Sutra of Divination』 longed for the highs and happiness of folk beliefs, and from the perspectives of scriptures, and treated beliefs in the future existence such as thought, religion and Yin-Yang and Five-Elements occupied a large portion. Especially, it also implies opinions buddhistic and narrative concept, historical books and Buddhist culture books internally.
Considering that the life of modern people is considered ‘coexistence of counseling continuity’, there is no reason to think of it as ‘absolute necessity of a special method’ for counseling. However, Buddhist counseling is not so unusual like Western psychology and counseling studies. It is truly a process of observing, listening, confirming and citing scriptures. Therefore, it refers to the process to help oneself to meditate and realize by oneself.
This way, 『Sutra of Divination』 will become a part of new Buddhist counseling to solve modern․cultural conflicts in modern society.
