The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of complex exercise program on respiro-circulatory function and shoulder isokinetic muscle strength in elderly women(65~72 years). We enrolled 30 elderly women into 12week aerobic exercise and resistance strength exercise training, Kuk Sun Do's Dan-jeon breathing program.
In measurements index, resting pulmonary function were determined by pulmonary function analysis measures.
During exercise pulmonary function assessment included measurements of heart rate, oxygen uptake, ventilation.
Shoulder isokinetic muscle strength assessment included measurements of peak torque, average power in 60o/sec.
All variables was statistically analyzed using two-way ANOVA with repeated measures (p < .05). The data was showed result of this study are following. First, in resting respiro-circulatory function, exercise group were showed significantly difference VC, ERV, IRV, IC, TV, FVC, and MVV but control group were not showed significantly difference.
HR rest were decreased significantly(p < 0.05), and HR peak were increased significantly (p < 0.05). And VO2rest and VO2peak were increased significantly(p < 0.01). Second, in shoulder isokinetic muscle strength, after program,peak torque, average power in 60o/sec were increased. These data suggest that aerobic exercise and resistance strength exercise, Dan-jeon breathing program in elderly women is an effective to improve respiro-circulatory function factors and shoulder isokinetic muscle strength
