This This study aims to analyze the cultural code 'girl crush' phenomenon by which women envy and admire other women, and to define the resulting attraction asset of sportswomen. To that end, 130 people and eleven people were sampled for the first study and second study, respectively. From June 2017 to August 2017, in two sessions, they answered a semi-structured survey questionnaire, and underwent an in-depth interview and an interview by phone. The collected data was analyzed using the frequency analysis and test analysis. The findings of the study are as follows. First, to analyze women's girl crush culture in the category of sports, three specific problems were identified. First, for women's recognition of girl crush, most of the subjects recognized girl crush and had a positive image thereof.
Regarding recognition of the female athletes with girl crush, most of the subjects cited Kim Yeon-gyeong and Kim Yu-na, and indicated athletes who were active on TV shows and popular, and with the reflection of features characterized by female champions, a positive image about sporting ability or physical features was found. A change to attitudes about sports through girl crush increased indirect participation and interest in sports rather than it increased direct participation in sports and sporting activities. Second, through girl crush, sports champions' attraction assets were found: ‘deviation from sexual bodies: physical attraction as an image’, ‘living with diverse identities: frankness, attraction of self-recognition’,‘surrogate satisfaction with goals/achievement courses: attraction as role-model women’, ‘a new discovery of woman sports : the attraction of sports viewed from women.
