Domestic urban campuses have recognized the demand for the change of various spatial structures for more compact and efficient space due to lack of space, change in inter-disciplinarity, the necessity of convergence, and a decreasing university population. Hong Kong has applied the concept of compact sharing city and successfully applied it to the urban campus. The purpose of this study is to analyze the case studies of urban campuses' effective spatial governance and structure along with the method of operation together with the urban framework in Hong Kong. As a theoretical study, it will examine the background and concept of compact city theory and analyze its temporal and spatial efficiency. and also the phenomenon of spatial governance framework through the differences between the neoliberal economic structure and spatial governance of the shared economy. It analyzes the characteristics of Hong Kong's urban governance and structure. Such as urban governance and structure, campuses in Hong Kong also have a clear institutional structure of management councils that must satisfy the big framework of ‘UGC’. Therefore, centralized organizational governance is needed to increase the rate of space utilization with the allocation of systematic space with the experimental space production. The common characteristics of spatial structure related to the governance of compact sharing cities concerning time(T), space(S) and activity(A) tend to pursue compact spatial networks through spatial and temporal efficiency(T,S,A).
This experimental space production can be created by reconstructing space through renovation rather than new construction or huge master plan, creating a new sharing scheme by producing shared hubs based on the internal and external systems, and reconstructing pedestrian and traffic system network. This study aims to influence the spatial production method through the concept of compact sharing city differentiated with the conventional space cost system in the domestic urban campus.
