크로포트킨의 상호부조 개념의 관점에서 5대 가족과 나는 개다의 가족의 의미 분석 (An Analysis of the Aspects of Family in Two Picture Books from the Perspective of Kropotkin’s Mutual Aid)

초록

이 논문의 목적은 진화의 역학으로서 사회적 관계를 견인하는 크로포트킨(P.Kropotkin)의 상호부조 개념의 관점에서 5대 가족과 나는 개다를 진단하고 가족의 관계에 대한 두 책의 다른 관점을 검토하는 데 있다. 두 그림책은 모두 가족을 주제로 하면서도 위계적 관계에 있어서 대립적 입장을 취한다. 5대 가족은 남자가 대를 잇는 가부장적 가족과 친밀한 관계를 보여준다. 가부장적 질서는 바로 화목한 가족의 역학이 며 자연의 섭리다. 나는 개다는 개 ‘구슬’의 신체적 심리적 가족의 모습을 보여 준다. 이는 상호수용적인 연결에 주목하여 가족의 의미를 신체적 심리적으로 확장한다. 두 그 림책에서 가족에 대한 관점은 친밀한 관계가 중요하다고 결론짓는 것처럼 보인다. 그러나 상호부조 개념을 그림책 분석에 적용한다면 5대 가족의 가부장적 질서와 위계가 가족의 상호수용적 관계를 제한하거나 억제하는 작동이며, 또한 나는 개다에서 주인 공의 돌봄의 관계적 행위는 심리적 가족의 원인임을 알 수 있다. 결과적으로 두 그림책 은 위계적 질서 관계 대 포괄적인 상호수용 관계라는 가족 역학의 대립적 관점을 보여 준다. 또한 5대 가족처럼 위계적 가족이라 할지라도 그 역학상 공존의 관계를 완전히 부정할 수 없기 때문에 친밀한 관계를 허용하는 모순이 나타난다.

영어초록

From the perspective of P. Kropotkin’s concept of mutual aid, this paper aims to critically review A Family of Five Generations, and I am a Dog. Although both picture books’ theme is ‘family,’ they take entirely different positions. This paper attempts to diagnose the opposing viewpoints.
A Family of Five Generations shows the close relationship of a patriarchal family. The patriarchal order is the dynamic of a harmonious family that realizes the providence of nature. On the other hand, I am a Dog shows the physical and psychological family that focuses on the connections of mutual acceptance, extending the meaning of family both physically and psychologically. The sense of the family in both picture books seems to conclude that friendly relationships are essential.
When the concept of mutual aid, which drives social relations as an evolutionary dynamic, is applied to the picture book analysis, the hierarchical discrimination of the patriarchal order of A Family of Five Generations appears as a relationship for protection and control, limiting or suppressing the receptive emotional connection of the family. In a patriarchal family, intimate relationships and dominance-submission relationships are contradictions. In I am a Dog, the acts of caring for the two main characters appear as psychological connections, suggesting that the mutually receptive relationships constitute the physical and psychological family. Their emotional solidarity builds on an extensive family.
As a result, the two picture books show the opposing view of family dynamics: hierarchical order relationship versus broad mutual acceptance. Also, even a hierarchical family such as A Family of Five Generations cannot wholly deny the coexistence relationship in terms of its dynamics, resulting in a contradiction that allows for an intimate connection.
