제향 인물 변천을 통해 본중국 서원의 사상적 특징－강서(江西) 일대 서원을 중심으로 (The Ideological Characteristics of the Chinese Confucian Academy through the Change of figures in ancestral rites －Focusing on the Confucian Academy in the Jiang-xi region)

초록

동아시아 서원 문화의 본원(本源)이라 할 수 있는 중국 서원 문화는 당대(唐代) 로부터 오랜 기간 변화를 겪으며 발전과 확장을 거듭해왔다. 그 발전의 배후에는 민(民), 관(官)으로 구분되는 운영 주체의 상호 협력과 유(儒), 불(佛), 도(道)의 긴장 및 융합, 그리고 유가 학술 사조의 변천이라는 다양한 요소 및 역사적 사건들이 변화 기제로 작용하였다. 본고는 중국의 여러 지역 가운데 전통 서원 문화 완비의 중심지이자 송명(宋明) 신유학과 함께 발전한 강서(江西)지역의 주요 서원에 관심을 기울인다. 특히 각 서원 제향 인물의 변천 양상을 확인, 상호 비교해봄으로써 강서지역의 사상적 특징과 지역성을 고찰해본다. 강서지역 서원 문화의 대표성과 지역성은 중국 서원 문화의 개방성과 다양성, 그리고 선진 유학, 정주이학 및 양명 학이라는 다양한 유가 사상의 역사적 지층(地層)을 실질적으로 구현하고 있다.

영어초록

Chinese confucian academy, which can be said to be the origin of East Asian Confucian academy culture, has undergone long-term changes since Tang dynasty and has continued to develop and expand. Behind its development were various factors and historical events, such as the interrelationship between the private and government agencies as the founders, tension and convergence of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. In this paper, among many regions in China, attention is paid to major Confucian academies in Jiang-xi, which are the center of the completion of the traditional Confucian academy cu ltu re and share the development and history of Confu cianism.
Among them, the ideological characteristics and locality of Confucian Academy in Jiang-xi area are examined by confirming and comparing the changes of figures in the ancestral rites of each Confucian academy. The representation and locality of the Confucian academy culture in the Jiang-xi region embodies the openness and diversity of the Confucian academy culture in China, as well as the ideological strata of Pre-Qin Confu cianism, ChengZhu Li xue, and Yang Ming Xue.
