초록

이 논문은 동양철학을 바탕으로 창제된 한글을 서양의 인식론 철학의 대표라 할 수 있는 칸트 미학으로 바라봄으로써 한글디자인에 철학적 연구의 새로운 계기를 발견하는데 의의를 두고 있다. 연구자는 창제 당시 한글디자인이 내포하는 철학적 의의가 인간중심 사상임을 파악하였다. 이는 칸트의 미학에서 주장하는 미의 이상인 인간을 논하는 부분과 일맥상통한다는 것을 공통감과 도덕성의 상징으로서의 미를 통하여 확인 할 수 있었다. 즉, 동서양의 철학적 측면이 어느 정도 차이를 보이지만 양자의 철학이 지향하는 궁극적 목적이 사람을 향하는 것으로 해석될 수 있다. 결국 모든 이치의 진리와 가치가 동서양 구분 없이 통한다는데 의의가 없음을 탐구할 수 있었다. 이는 결국 한글디자인의 철학적 우수함을 칸트 미학의 관점을 통하여 입증 가능하다는 것을 발견하였다. 더 나아가 이와 같은 계기를 통하여 또 다른 의미를 찾을 수 있다는 점에서도 연구의 의의를 갖는다고 본다.

영어초록

By analyzing the Korean alphabet created based on Asian philosophy in the viewpoint of Kant’s esthetics, the representative of the western epistemology, the research aims to discover a new opportunity for the philosophical research of Korean alphabet design. The author discovered that the philosophical meaning that the design of the Korean alphabet embraces in human-oriented philosophy. It was possible to identify that it is in line with the human, the ideal of the beauty argued in Kant’s esthetics with the beauty as the symbol of sensus communis and morality. Thus, although the philosophical aspects of the East and the West differ to an extent, the fundamental goal of both philosophies is human. Eventually, all the reasons and truths have a thread of connection. Therefore, it was found that the philosophical excellence of Korean alphabet design can be demonstrated with the viewpoint of Kant’s esthetics. In addition, this research is meaningful since other meanings can be found with this opportunity.
