초록

본 논문은 지역환경 특성과 지역의 사망률 간의 관계를 탐색하는데 목적을 두었다. 우리나라 구‧시‧군을 공간분석 단위로 하여 공간적으로 이질적인 지역환경의 영향력이 얼마나 지역 간에 차별화되어 나타나는 가를 분석하는데 초점을 두었다. 이를 위해 지리가중회귀모델을 활용하였으며, 표준화사망률을 종속변수로 하고 지역환경 특성을 나타내는 독립변수를 4개 영역으로 정하여 지역의 경제수준을 나타내는 1인당 지방세, 지역의 사회적 자본을 나타내는 지역단체참여율, 지역의 주택환경 변수로 소형낙후주택 비율, 그리고 지역의 물리적(보행) 환경 변수로 도시공원면적 비율을 선정하였다. 모델의 추정 결과 지역마다 산출된 모델의 결정계수도 다르고, 지역환경 변수들이 사망률에 미치는 영향력도 지역별로 매우 상이하게 나타났다. 지리가중회귀모델은 OLS 회귀모델이나 공간계량모델에 비해 모델의 적합성을 향상시켰으며, 지역환경 특성이 사망률에 미치는 영향력이 상이하다는 점을 고려하여 사망수준을 낮추기 위한 정책도 차별화되어야 한다는 시사점을 제공하였다.

영어초록

The main objective of this study is to explore the relationship between regional environmental characteristics and regional mortality rates. Especially this study focuses to analyze whether there are spatially heterogeneous effects of regional environment context on mortality rates for Gu‧Shi‧Gun as a spatial unit. This study employs geographically weighted regression(GWR).
The dependent variable is standardized mortality rates and explanatory variables are 4 categories of regional environmental characteristics. Local tax base per capita was employed for economic environment and community participation ratio indicating community social capital was selected for social environment. Old and small housing rates implying poor quality housing and urban park ratio indicating walkable built environment were used for housing environment and built environment. The modeling result reveals that significant spatial non-stationarity exists between mortality rate and its determinants. The coefficients of determination of locally regressed models are varying and the relationships between regional environments and mortality rates are spatially heterogeneous across geographical areas. GWR model suggests various parameters incorporating spatial variation in the relationship between dependent and independent variables, provides better fitness of the model, and resolve the problem of spatial dependence. This study gives an important policy implication to decrease mortality rate, which should account for the spatial variation effects of regional environmental characteristics.
