완벽주의와 자살사고 간 관계에 대한 메타분석 (Perfectionism and Suicidal Ideation: A Meta-Analytic Review)

초록

본 연구는 2008년부터 2024년 8월까지 국내에 발표된 완벽주의와 자살사고의 관계에 대한 총 23편의 논문으로 메타분석을 실시하였다(N=9,375, 연령=14-65세). 그 결과 완벽주의와 자살사고의 평균 총효과크기(r)는 .299였다. 완벽주의 척도에 따른 효과크기(r)는 Frost의 다차원적 완벽주의 척도(FMPS)와 Hewitt과 Flett의 다차원적 완벽주 의 척도(HMPS)는 각각 .319, .273였으며, FMPS 하위차원 중 실수에 대한 염려가 .336으로, HMPS 하위차원 중 사회부과 완벽주의가 .331로 가장 컸다. FMPS, HMPS, 그리고 완벽성향 척도 개정판(APS-R)의 일부 하위요인들의 조합으로 정의된 부적응적 완벽주의는 효과크기(r)가 .428였다. 자살사고 척도에 따른 효과크기(r)는 Beck, Kovacs, 그리고 Weissman의 자살사고 척도(SSI)가 .292, Reynolds의 자살사고 척도(SIQ)가 .336으로, SIQ가 SSI보다 더 컸다. 연령의 조절효과 검증결과 완벽주의와 자살사고의 관계는 대학생(r=.386), 청소년(r=.319), 성인(r=.214) 순으 로 학업과 취업의 사회적 성취 압박이 큰 대학생에게서 가장 컸다.

영어초록

This study aimed to conduct a meta-analysis of 23 independent studies on the relationship between perfectionism and suicidal ideation published in Korea between 2008 to August 2024(N=9,375, age range=14-65). The average total effect size(r) of perfectionism and suicide ideation was .299. By the perfectionism scale, Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(FMPS) and Hewitt Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(HMPS) both showed medium effect sizes(r) of .319, .273, respectively. Among the subscales of perfectionism scales, the largest effect sizes were the concerns of mistakes of FMPS(r=.336), and socially prescribed perfectionism of HMPS(r=.331). The effect size(r) of Maladaptive Perfectionism, measured as a composite of some subscales of FMPS, HMPS, and Almost Perfect Scale-Revised, was .428. As for the suicide ideation scales, the effect size of Reynolds Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire(r=.336) was greater than the effect size of Beck, Kovacs, and Weissman‘s Scale for Suicide Ideation(r=.292). Age moderated the relationship between perfectionism and suicidal ideation. We found to be large in the order of college students(r=.386), adolescents(r=.319), and adults(r=.214).
