초록

본 논문은 코로나 19라는 감염병의 위기, 드라마의 타자성 연구이다. 특히 코로나 19 시기 우리 사회 타자의 사이(간) 존재성을 진지하게 성찰한 <스위트홈 시즌1>(2020), <지옥 시즌1>(2021)을 분석의 중심에 두었다. 분석결과 본 드라마가 재현하는 타자들은내 안의 괴물과 신, 죄인 등 ‘간존재’(interbeings)(Kearney, 2004/2016)로 재현되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 감염병 시대 우리의 사회상과 묘하게 등치 된다. <스위트홈 시즌1>과 <지옥 시즌1>은 타자란 재난을 피할 수 없는 나와 같은 동종의 자이며 타자를 구별하고 배제하는 의미화의 폭력이야말로 ‘괴물’ 그리고 ‘지옥’임을 성찰하고 있다.
나아가 본 드라마는 폭력을 멈추기 위한 대안으로 ‘차연’과 ‘무의미’, ‘해체’ 등을 통한환대를 서사의 방법론적 대안으로 제시한다. 나와 타자는 서로를 내재하고 있는 간존재이기에 타자에 대한 폭력을 멈추고 환대하는 것이야말로 나를 환대하는 방편임을 드라마는 재현하고 있는 것이다. 이처럼 코로나 19시기 K-드라마의 타자재현이 ‘우리 안의차이를 넘어선 타자로서의 동질성’에 대한 깊은 성찰을 제공했던 만큼 저자는 본 연구가우리 사회 극화되어가는 타자화 문제를 해결하는 작은 방향키가 되길 기대해본다.

영어초록

This paper is a study of the crisis of the infectious disease called COVID-19 and the otherness of dramas. In particular, <Sweet Home Season 1> (2020) and <Hell Bound Season 1> (2021) that seriously reflected on the inter-existence of the other in our society during the COVID-19 period were analyzed at the center. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the other represented in these dramas are ‘interbeings’ (Kearney, 2004/2016), such as monsters, gods, and sinners within me. This is strangely equivalent to our social situation in the era of infectious diseases. <Sweet Home Season 1> and <Hell Bound Season 1> reflect on the fact that the other is a person of the same kind as me who can not avoid disaster, and that the violence of signification that distinguishes and excludes the other is ‘monster’ and ‘hell.’ Furthermore, the dramas suggest hospitality through ‘différance,’ ‘meaninglessness,’ and ‘deconstruction’ as a methodological alternative to the narrative as an alternative to stop violence.
In this way, since I and the other are inter-existences that contain each other, the drama reenacts that unconditional hospitality for the other is a means of welcoming myself. As examined through this paper, the representations of the other in K-dramas during the COVID-19 period provided deep reflection on ‘the homogeneity of the other that transcends the differences within us,’ so the author hopes that this study will serve as a small directional key to resolving the polarization of the other in our society.
