The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of 10weeks aerobic exercise on blood pressure, vascular compliance and double product in hypertensive middle-aged women(age 40~60) with antihypertensive agent. The subjects were divided into antihypertensive agent+exercise group(AE, n=10) and antihypertensive agent control group(AC, n=10). In AE, aerobic exercise were performed 40minutes a day, 5times a week, during a 10weeks used treadmill with 50%O2max. The subjects were measured a change of blood pressure, heart rate, vascular compliance and double product in a rest condition.
The results were as followed :
First, in AE, both systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were decreased(p<.01, p<.01), and more decreased in AE compared to that of AC(p<.01, p<.05). Second, after the 10weeks, both heart rate and double product were decreased in AE(p<.01, p<.01), and more decreased in AE compared to that of AC(p<.001, p<.01). Third, AE has improved on vascular compliance in left and right arm(p<.01, p<.01), and left and right leg(p<.01, p<.01), and AE has more improved on vascular compliance in left and right arm, and left and right leg compared to that of AC(all p<.001), respectively.
Overall, these results suggested that aerobic exercise is required a hypertensive middle-aged women who controlled with antihypertensive agent for more decrease of blood pressure and double product, and improvement of a vascular compliance.
