The purpose of this study is to develop a more economical and constructible shear reinforcement which is named as V-STUD
with a mortar filled steel tube. V-STUD is a new kind of shear reinforcement for column-flat plate connection and its potential
application is examined in general. Therefore, a total of twelve test specimens in four different types are made on the basis of
the shear area and slab tickness. Then, they are compared with the conventional stirrup and studrail in the respect of the
maximum shear strength and ductility through the one-way slab shear strength test. Additionally, considering the shear capacity
in the hole edge area, the equivalent area is computed. Also, how to use the value for the existing design method is suggested.
As a result, the maximum shear strength of the V-STUD shows an increase by 18 to 60 % in comparison with the designed
values ; the shear ductility parameter, on the other hand, demonstrates a better performance than that of the stirrup while
generating a relatively lower figure than that of the studrail.
