아동문학번역의 충실성과 가독성연구 －루이스 캐롤의 『이상한 나라의 앨리스』를 중심으로－ (A Study on Faithfulness and Readability of English-Korean Translation of Children’s Literature with a Focus on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland)

초록

The aim of this paper is to investigate how faithfulness and readability in translating Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland are fulfilled. Five Korean translations of Alice in Wonderland are examined for their treatment of faithfulness and readability. These five translations were also selected according to publication date and span the period. This paper shows examples of translated texts including unqualified translation in faithfulness, unqualified translation in readability and qualified translation in both faithfulness and readability. As a result of the analysis of this paper, one of the major factors for best translation with faithfulness and readability is a translator’s outstanding language ability.
