『금향정기(錦香亭記)』의 『금향정(錦香亭)』 수용과 번역 양상 연구 (A Study on the Acceptance and Translation Patterns of Geumhyangjeong(錦香亭) in Geumhyangjeonggi(錦香亭記))

초록

『금향정(錦香亭)』은 청(淸)나라 때 백화문으로 된 장편 장회체 소설이다. 실제 일어났던 사건에 사랑 이야기를 가미해서 쓴 것인데, 재자가인(才子佳人) 소설과 영웅연의(英雄演義) 소설의 결합체다. 당시 금서로 지정되었으면서도 많은 사람들에게 읽히며 생명력이 끊기지 않고 여러 판본이 나타났다. 이 작품은 한국으로 유입되어 『금향정기(錦香亭記)』·『금향정록(錦香亭錄)』 등의 이름으로 변형되었으며 세책본․경판본․구활자본 등 여러 판본이 유통되었다.
본고에서는 판본의 출현 시기 및 판본의 정확도를 고려하여 기원장판본(岐園藏板本) 『금향정』과 약현본(藥峴本) 『금향정기』를 비교 대상으로 삼았고, 『금향정기』에서 『금향정』의 형식적․내용적인 수용 양상을 분석하였다. 이러한 작업에 앞서 『금향정』의 성립 과정과 판본 현황을 검토했고 기원장판본 『금향정』의 창작 시기를 추정해 보았다. 이어서 장회체 소설의 형식적인 특징인 장회의 나눔, 제목, 투어의 활용, 그리고 내용적인 측면의 인물 추가와 삭제, 인물 성격, 시(詩)와 사(詞)의 삽입 등 측면에서 『금향정기』에서 『금향정』의 선택적인 수용 양상을 구체적으로 살펴보았다.

영어초록

Geumhyangjeong is a full-length vernacular novel in the Qing Dynasty. It is a combination of the novels of Jaejaigain(才子佳人) and the novels of Youngwoongyeonui(英雄演義), where fictional love stories and true historical events intersect. At that time, this work was designated as a forbidden book, but it doesn’t lose the vitality, and several versions appeared. After it was introduced into South Korea, it was renamed such as Geumhyangjeonggi(錦香亭記), Geumhyangjeongrok(錦香亭錄) and so on. There are various versions appeared by way of manuscript and printing.
Considering the time of appearance and the degree of completion of the versions, this paper compares Giwonjang version(岐園藏板本) of Geumhyangjeong and Yakhyeon version(藥峴本) of Geumhyangjeonggi, and aims to reveal how the story of Geumhyangjeong is reinterpreted in terms of form and content in Geumhyangjeonggi. Since the storyline, the characters, and the background of the times appear similar in the two works, Geumhyangjeonggi can be regarded as a translated novel of Geumhyangjeong. But there are also differences in the two works. Therefore, this paper will examine such as Janghoe(章回), the title, the hackneyed expressions, which are the formal characteristics of Janghoe novels, and adding or deleting characters, the differences of the same characters, the poems, etc.
