초록

본 연구의 목적은 학부교육 선도대학 육성사업(ACE)의 수행이 대학생의 학습참여(지원적
대학환경, 교수-학생 상호작용, 고차원 학습, 학습량)에 미치는 영향을 분석하는데 있다. 연구
대상은 2013~2016년 4년 동안 이루어진 학부교육 실태조사(K-NSSE)에 지속적으로 참여한 10
개 ACE 대학과 11개 비ACE 대학에 재학 중인 11,715명의 대학생이다. 2013년에 1학년이었던
입학 코호트를 4년 동안 추적하여 종속 변인의 성장 궤적을 분석하기 위해 3수준 다층성장모
형을 적용하였다. 제1수준에는 학생특성(성별, 고교내신등급, 가계소득수준)을, 제2수준에는 시
간(연도)을, 제3수준에는 대학특성(소재지, 규모, 연구 경쟁력, 교육 여건, 대학의 고교내신등
급 평균값)을 포함하였다. 분석 결과, 초기 수준(2013년 1학년)에서 ACE 대학 학생들은 비
ACE 대학 학생들보다 지원적 대학환경에 대한 인식과 교수-학생 상호작용 수준이 높았고, 이
후 4년 동안 동률의 성장을 보였다. 반면 고차원 학습 경험은 두 집단이 초기 수준에는 차이
가 없었지만, 이후 ACE 집단에서 높은 성장률을 보였다. 학습량에 있어서는 두 집단 사이에
서 초기 수준과 성장률 모두 차이가 없었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 정부 재정지원 사업
의 성과 창출을 위한 정책적 시사점을 제언하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the Advancement of College
Education (ACE) project on student engagement (supportive environment,
student-faculty interaction, higher-order learning, and quantity of learning). Utilizing
the longitudinal cohort data collected from 2013~2016 K-NSSE surveys, this study
includes the sample of 11,715 students from 21 universities. This study examines the
degree of growth of the 2003 freshman cohort in outcome variables as they advance
through their degree programs. With the hierarchical nature of the data, three-level
multilevel modeling is conducted. Independent variables include: gender, high school
GPA, family income (at the student level), year (at the time level), and location, size,
research capacity, educational resources, and average high school GPA (at the
university level). The findings indicate that controlling for other variables, students
from the ACE universities show a higher level of supportive environment and
student-faculty interaction compared to students from the non-ACE universities. The
results further reveal that when holding other variables constant students from the
ACE universities indicate greater growth in higher-order learning for four years in
comparison with their counterparts. Policy implications are suggested to consistently
create and expand positive outcomes through the ACE project.
