초록

본 연구의 목적은 이야기 만들기․극 연계활동이 유아의 안전지식과 안전문제해결사고 능력에
미치는 효과에 대해 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구 대상은 경기도 U시에 소재한 초등학교병설유
치원 2곳의 만 5세 유아 40명이었다. 실험 집단 유아들은 동화에 나오는 안전 문제 장면을 선정
한 후 안전 주제와 관련한 이야기를 만들고, 그 이야기를 토대로 극 연계활동을 하였다. 반면에
비교 집단의 유아들은 안전 주제와 관련한 경험을 회상하는 이야기 나누기 활동만 실시하였다.
이야기 만들기․ 극 연계활동이 유아의 안전지식과 안전문제해결사고 능력에 미치는 효과를 알아
보기 위하여 SPSS 17.0 프로그램을 사용하여 공분산 분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 연구 결
과, 이야기 만들기․극 연계 활동을 실시한 실험집단 유아들이 비교집단의 유아들보다 안전지식
과 안전문제해결사고 능력이 향상되었다. 이를 통해 유아교육 현장에서 유아를 위한 안전교육을
실시함에 있어 이야기 만들기․극 연계 활동은 안전지식 및 안전문제해결사고 능력에 효과를 줄
수 있는 교육활동으로 긍정적인 기여를 할 수 있을 것이라는 것이 밝혀졌다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of young children’s safety education
through story making and dramatization on safety knowledge and safety problem solving
ability.
The subjects of the study were 40 young children of under age of 5 attending at 2
kindergartens attached to D elementary school and Y elementary school. The experimental
group and the control group were composed of 20 young children attending each kindergarten,
and the research was conducted 20 times for 10 weeks. The collected data was analyzed using
SPSS 17.0, and an ANCOVA was conducted to evaluate the effects of story making and
dramatization on young children’s safety knowledge and safety problem solving ability.
The results of the study were as follows: First, young children’s safety knowledge of the
experimental group conducted by story making and dramatization was more improved than the
control group. Second, young children’s safety problem solving ability of the experimental
group conducted by story making and dramatization was more improved than the control group.
Based on the results of the study, the experimental group conducted by story making and
dramatization on safety knowledge and safety problem solving ability was more effective than
the control group.
Considering the results of the study, story making and dramatization as educational programs
can positively contributed to safety knowledge and safety problem solving ability of young
children. Also, this study has significance as basic information of effective methods of teaching
and learning by providing concrete activity plan of applying story making and dramatization
into educational settings.
