초록

지속가능발전교육은 유엔의 교육 지향점으로서 UNESCO는 2014년까지 이를 완성할 수 있
도록 생애교육의 교육과정과 교수학습방법의 개정을 제안하고 있다. 본 연구는 OECD 교육선진
국의 교육과정 개정 방향인 지속가능발전교육을 이론적으로 분석하여, 우리나라 유아교육과정
의 재방향 설정(reorienting)에 타당한 이론적 근거를 탐색하는 것을 그 목적으로 하였다. 생애
초기교육 단계인 유아교육에서 교육과정의 방향을 재설정하기 위하여 지속가능발전교육의 역사
적 시사점을 유아교육의 관점에서 분석하고, 교육내용과 교수학습방법의 교수실제에 대한 적용
가능성을 탐색하였다. 연구결과, 지속가능발전교육에 대한 유아교육과정의 교육적 의미를 도출
하였으며, 교육내용을 사회문화, 환경, 경제 영역에 따라 재설정할 필요성이 있음을 제안하였다.
마지막으로 유아를 위한 교수학습방법을 생활에 기반을 둔 7R's를 적용하여 재구성할 것을 제
안하였다.

영어초록

For reorienting the curriculum, UN suggests the education for sustainable development for
the future lifelong education till 2014. This study examines the integration and application of
education for sustainable development to reorient the curriculum of early childhood education.
First, the analyzing theory and history of education for sustainable development is applied for
the early childhood education. Second, the applying the contents and pedagogy of education for
sustainable development is implied for reorienting early childhood curriculum. The results
suggest the reorienting curriculum of early childhood education including reconstructing the
contents related social cultural, environmental, and economic area, and transforming the
pedagogy based on the 7R's.
