초록

연구 방법은 학문의 대상과 영역이 발전함에 따라서 그 주도적인 질문이 무엇이며 어떻게 답해져야 할 것인지에 의해서 변화되어 왔다. 교육공학 연구의 패러다임도 연구 질문에 따라 실험과 통제를 기반으로 한 양적인 연구를 지속적으로 수행하면서 동시에 자연주의적이고 인류학적인 질적 연구를 수행하는 경향이 높아지고 있다. 기호학적 접근은 질적 연구의 한 형태로서 교수학습 이론의 발달과 기술 공학의 변화와 함께 지금까지 답해지지 못하던 교육공학의 근본적인 문제를 발견하고 해결하는 새로운 연구 패러다임을 제시하고 있다. 또한, 기호학은 매체의 특성을 기호학적으로 해석하여 매체를 분석하고 평가하는 데 필요한 새로운 시각을 제공한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper was to apply semiotic theory to educational technology.Semiotics can provide an alternative research paradigm to find and solve research questions of educational technology, and an analysis technique for instructional media by studying signs and sign systems of all kinds.Research paradigm in semiotics is strongly related to qualitative methodology by raising questions of why rather than those of how. Also, it allows to see natures of educational technology and to interpret various ways of individual experience and cultural diversity.Semiotics involves the production of signs, communication through signs; the systematic structuring of signs into codes; the social function of sign, and finally the meaning of signs. Semiotics view emphasizes the role of reader in relations of author - text - reader as interpreter and manager of information so as to be used to under stand and evaluate instructional media such as interactive multimedia and instructional software in instructionally innovative ways.
