여가로서의 스포츠관광 연구경향 분석 : 국내 석 박사 학위 논문을 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 여가로써의 스포츠관광에 대한 최근의 연구 경향을 조사하여 그 수준과 문제를 알아보기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위하여 국내에서 발표된 학위 논문들 중 국회도서관과 한국교육학술정보원에서 ‘스포츠 관광’의 키워드로 전자 검색한 후 연구 목적에 부합되는 131편의 학위 논문을 대상으로 발표연도, 분야, 연구 주제, 연구종목, 연구 방법에 대한 외형적 분석을 하였다. 또한 Weed(2006)의 연구를 분석 기초로 하여 국내 연구경향의 수준과 문제점을 찾아보았다. 첫째, 해외와 국내 학계 간 여가의 독립적 학문으로서의 지위와 인식, 그리고 스포츠관광과의 관계의 차이가 구조적 측면에서 나타났으며, 스포츠관광은 단순히 스포츠와 관광이라는 두 개념의 결합을 넘어서 보다 여가 측면에서의 다양한 접근이 필요하다. 둘째, 국내 연구가 마케팅적 특성에 더욱 강하게 집중하고 있는 현상을 발견하였는데, 장기적 측면에서는 보다 여가 활동으로서 스포츠관광의 원리적이고 본질적인 요인에 대한 연구가 더욱 활발하게 이루어질 필요가 있다. 셋째, 종목과 관련하여 우리만의 고유한 자산으로써 ‘태권도’의 가치와 가능성을 발견하였다. 넷째, 연구 주제와 연구 문제, 사용된 방법, 결과, 결론이 이질적으로 기술되는 사례 지나친 비약, 비적절한 방법 사용이 여럿 발견되었다. 이는 개념 이해의 부재, 논리적 체계성의 부족 등에 기인한다. 다섯째, 연구 방법이 실증적 사례, 현상 기술 연구에 집중되어 있다. 방법적, 기술적 측면에서도 기존의 안정된 방법에 치중하고 있어 균형적인 발전을 위한 도전적이고, 다각적인 연구 방법이 수행되어야 한다.

영어초록

This study seeks to identify areas of academic research in Korea that have developed over the past decade with regard to sport tourism as a leisure and to provide meta-evaluation of that body of research. An electronic-search of theses written by master's degree and doctoral students was conducted using the key words "sport tourism" on the National Assembly Library and KERIS Internet sites. A total of 131 theses were found and then analyzed using a process of meta-evaluation with regard to dates of study, areas, topics and activities. Findings were then analyzed with research trends of international journal were relate to sport tourism. Five outcomes were found. First, the structural differs with international and Korean research field for Leisure study is remaining and the research should be conducted by variety access from aspect of Leisure. Second, Korean research need to more concentrate on study aspect of leisure activities. Third, Tae Kwon Do is valued as a potential product for sport tourism, exclusive to Korea. Fourth, the logic employed by many Korean studies is inconsistent. Fifth, the method used by most studies relies too heavily on positive and descriptive approaches. Until now, scant theoretical and interpretative research has been undertaken.
