초록

본 논문에서는 한국 사회복지교육 60주년을 맞아 한국 사회복지교육에 큰 영향을 미친 미국 사회복지교육을 다시 한 번 살펴보고 그로부터 함의를 찾고자 하였다. 우선, 미국 사회복지교육의 구조와 그 커리큘럼을 고찰하고 미국 사회복지교육의 간략한 역사와 특성을 살펴보았다. 또, 고등교육에 대한 미국 정부의 관여와 지역 인정당국 및 사회복지교육협의회의 인정과정을 통한 사회복지교육의 질 관리를 고찰하였다. 마지막으로 미국 사회복지교육 인정에 있어서의 요구사항과 한국에서의 대학교육의 인정과정을 고찰한 후 한국 사회복지교육의 발전을 위한 함의를 제시하였다.

영어초록

This article reviews four levels of social work education and their curri culum in the US and summarizes the brief history, characteristics, principles, and organization of social work education in the US. It covers the roles of government on higher education and investigates issues of governance of social work education through the accreditation process at two different levels, which are governed by regional accreditation bodies and the voluntary professional association, CSWE. The article also includes a review of the structure of social work education in the US and standards for licensing. Lastly, the basic requirements for accreditation of social work programs in the US and the accreditation process of higher education in Korea are also reviewed.
