본문내용

1.자동사로만 사용되는 동사들
– exist, remain, seem, appear, disappear, rise, sit, lie, go, come, arrive, talk, interfere, object, experiment, wait, apologize, look, complain
 
2.타동사로 착각하기 쉬운 자동사들
- graduate from sth, listen to sth, talk about sth, deal with sth, complain about(=of) sth, depend on sth, dispose of sth, listen to sth, object to sth, wait for sth, reply to sth, respond to sth, interfere with, account for, sympathize with sth, experiment with sth, apologize to sth, look for(at, into…)
- 자동사로 고정되어 있지만 타동사적 성격을 가지고 있는 말들은 뒤에 전치사를 걸면 명사 목적어를 가질 수 있으며, 이런 경우는 수동태로도 전환이 가능하다. 시험에서는 주로 전치사를 사용하지 않은 상태에서 명사를 걸어 놓는다.

You can not dispose of engine oil down drains. à Engine oil can not be disposed of down drains.
타동사
- 동사적 의미가 특별한 대상이 있어야만 수행 가능한 동사를 의미한다.
I will marry with you. (X) – 결혼은 혼자 할 수 있는 행위가 아니다.
I resemble with my father. (X) -
- 타동사는 뒤에 목적어를 바로 받아야 하며, 목적어 앞에 절대 전치사를 사용해서는 안 된다.
 
4.자동사로 착각하기 쉬운 타동사들
- discuss, attend(참석하다), resemble, disclose, marry, mention, regret, explain, reach, answer, await, address(말 걸다), inhabit, resist, approach, greet, influence, enter
