T1DM, pancreas is unable to produce insulin. It is autoimmune disease that is possible genetic or viral cause. It requires daily injections of insulin and careful balance of dietary intake and physical activity. It requires checking blood sugar levels several times a day. There are lots of complication such as hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, Cardiovascular disease, neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy and also sexual dysfunction, depression, foot ulcer, limb amputation and etc. this patient need annual checks of HbA1c, BP, weight/BMI, cholesterol, serum creatinine, urine albumin, smoking status, retinopathy and podiatry food check. The impact in the UK with T1DM is leading cause of blindness and end stage kidney failure. Around 100limb amputations each week and reduce life expectancy. There is problems with self-care.
