Liquidity refers to the ability to cash in assets held by economic players such as companies and financial institutions. In brief, it refers to how much property you have that can be converted into cash. In other words, Liquidity is the ability to cash in assets held by economic players, such as businesses and financial institutions.
Liquidity risk is the risk that a given security or asset cannot be traded quickly enough in the market to prevent a loss. If the credit rating falls, there is an unexpected cash outflow, or if the counterparty hedges transactions with the company, the company may lose liquidity. When economic players try to transact assets, liquidity risks increase if they cannot find a trading participant who is interested in the transaction. For this reason, liquidity risks are higher in emerging markets or in small markets. If the market on which a company depends is subject to liquidity loss, the entity is also exposed to liquidity risk.
