이 연구에서는 발달장애인 부모 217명을 대상으로 발달장애인 부모가 가족생활에서 겪는 어려움이 무엇인지, 그리고 그 어려움은 장애자녀의 성, 장애유형 및 장애정도에 따라
차이가 있는지를 알아보았는데, 그 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 경제생활, 양육활동, 일상생활, 사회적 관계, 건강유지, 가족관계 요인의 순으로 나
타났다. 둘째, 자녀의 성에 따라 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연령에 따라 차이가
없는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 자녀의 장애유형에 따른 전반적 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났
으나, 가사활동, 확대가족과의 관계, 이웃과의 관계, 친구 모임 등 친교활동에서 자폐성장
애 부모가 지적장애 부모보다 더 많은 어려움을 겪고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 장
애정도가 심할수록 양육활동, 건강유지, 가족관계, 일상생활, 사회적 관계가 더 어려운 것
으로 나타났으나, 경제생활 범주는 4개 하위요인 모두 장애정도와 관계 없는 것으로 나타
났다. 특히 수면, 부모-자녀 관계, 가족 행사, 생활물품 구입, 가사활동, 가정 내 휴식, 여
가생활, 친교활동은 장애 정도가 클수록 더 어려움을 겪는 것으로 나타났다.
이 연구의 결과는 발달장애인 부모 혹은 가족 지원 계획을 세우는 데 기초자료로 활용
할 수 있을 것이다.
영어 초록
The purpose of this study is to investigate what difficulties of parents who have ㅓpersons with developmental disabilities are in their family life and to see whether any
differences are in the difficulties depending on their children’s gender, types and
degrees of their disability. The results are as followings:
First, the factors of difficulty were shown in order of economic life, parenting
activities, social relations, health maintenance, and family relations
Second, there was no difference in the gender of their children
Third, the age of the children did not influence on the difficulties.
Fourth, the types of disability didn’t show any differences generally, but parents who
have children with autism spectrum disorder have more difficulties than parents of
children with intellectual disability in household, relationships with extended family
and neighbors, and social activities.
Fifth, the severe the degree of disability was, the more difficult parenting activities,
health maintenance, family relations, daily life, social relations were.
Especially, the more severely disabled the children were, the worse sleep, relationship
with their children, family event, daily necessity purchase, household, rest, leisure, and
friendship were in parents’ life.
The results of this study can be used to make family support plan for parents who
have children with developmental disability.
